Invoice for Sister School Program

Each participating member of the Sister School Program is to contribute $1,200.00 to offset exchange program costs for the field study in China, April 11-21, 2008. The $1,200.00 contribution is payable to: Connecticut Association of Schools, 30 Realty Drive, Cheshire, CT 06410 on or before January 15, 2008. All other costs including transportation from Bradley International Airport to Beijing and return, all in-China transportation, meals and accommodations will be provided by a funding grant from the Freeman Foundation. Incidentals and personal expenses will be borne by the participants. The Sister School Program is a joint project managed by the Connecticut State Department of Education and the Connecticut Principals’ Center of the Connecticut Association of Schools. The field study pricing is based on a group rate purchase. The airline tickets are nonrefundable! There is a cancellation fee of $300.00 for medical emergency. You are responsible for the ticket should you wish to cancel. There is a penalty of $200.00 for cancellation after March 31, 2008 for the in-China portion of the field study. In the unlikely event of cancellation as described above the cost is borne by the participant.

Seminar Dates and Deadlines

The seminar dates for the Partner School and Principal Shadowing and Confucian Teacher programs scheduled for April are as follows:

Both delegation groups will follow the same schedule for the seminars.

All seminars will take place at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS), 30 Realty Drive, Cheshire, CT. A continental breakfast will be available when you arrive and lunch will be served as well. Lou Pear, Assistant Executive Director, Elementary, CAS, will serve as seminar host and providing leadership for the Principal Shadow and Teacher Confucian delegation.

Charlotte Mason, Carolyn Henderson and Wang Peihui, China Exchange Initiative, will provide basic information on establishing and maintaining a partner school in China. They will provide each participant with a handbook.

Dan Gregg will be providing information on the history of the Connecticut Shandong relationship, providing cultural tips to connect with China and managing logistics for the China experience with Peng Zhen, North American Director for Education Exchange, China Education Association for International Exchange, Ministry of Education, P.R. China. At the first seminar you will be provided with a handbook to prepare you for the China experience. Additional information on presenters to follow.

It is very important that all participants attend the seminars. If you do have a conflict then you are responsible for obtaining necessary information from a colleague and meeting deadlines for submitting required forms such as the Chinese visa application, passport etc. Being adequately prepared balanced with management efficiency is necessary for nearly 35 participants to have a comfortable and productive experience in China.

Welcome to the website for two delegations going to China in April: Connecticut Shandong Sister School Delegation April 11-21, 2008 and Connecticut Shandong Principal Shadowing and Teacher Confucian Delegation April 8-21, 2008. This site will be used to prepare groups for both programs. Please visit frequently since this website will be used for most communication.
